Garrettstown Surf School and Coasteering (GTown) is a fully approved Irish Surfing Association Surf School and is run by Steve Tobin. Steve has been surfing for over a decade and looks forward to surfing decades more! He is a fully qualified and experienced I.S.A. Surf instructor, Beach and R.L.S.S. Pool lifeguard and takes great pride in offering a surfing experience to beginners and improvers of all ages.

Garrettstown Surf School offers a range of activities including surfing, bodyboarding, stand up paddle boarding and coasteering.

GTown believes in learning to surf safely, while respecting the ocean and others. All GTown instructors are fully qualified, ISA approved surf instructors and beach/pool lifeguards. Wetsuits, boards and all safety equipment is provided by GTown, so just bring swimwear, a towel and a lot of enthusiasm.

GTown pride themselves on encouraging people to learn to surf through the correct progressions and to observe safe surfing practice and knowing the rules in the water. In a sense, to become an accomplished surfer you need to serve a Surf apprenticeship. The instructors offer group lessons or one to one sessions for improvers. Lessons are open for any age (4yrs+) and ability.

Coasteering offers you an opportunity to push yourself that little bit more. GTown's fully trained and experienced guides will take you on an exhilarating coastal adventure. You will navigate along Cork's stunning coastline, climbing over rocks, jumping into the sea and exploring caves. GTown are fully insured coasteering providers. All coasteering equipment is provided so just bring swimwear, shorts (over wetsuit) and trainers you don't mind getting wet.

GTown also offers stand up paddle boarding (SUP), a great alternative to surfing on a calm day. Guided SUP sessions are a wonderful way to see Ireland's coastline up close and personal. Previous SUP boarders have met a seal colony, a Minke whale and a glorious Basking shark.

Summer Camps run from June - August. Camps are age appropriate (4 - 7yrs/8 - 12yrs/teens) and activities include surfing, body boarding, beach games, raft building and coasteering for the over 12s. Camps prove very popular so book a place early.

If you have worked up a post surf appetite there are plenty of food vendors and a coffee shop located next to the Garrettstown Surf School. Other amenities at Garrettstown Surf School include a public toilet and parking.
