At Gtown we have taught many people the basics of Surfing over the years. You can easily sign up to one of our 2-hour surf lessons. We’ll guide you safely through your first waves on the water! We provide all wetsuits, boards, boots, hoods so all you gotta do is show and Surf!

Each lesson starts with a short intro and then its into the wetsuit and onto the beach for your safety briefing and Key points time with your Instructor. In the water you’ll be toasty warm in our top quality wetsuits, you’ll progress through the stages of the lesson in a fun packed environment. Our Instructors are friendly, expert and ultra safe.

They will teach you essential elements such as:

• The Surfboard and its features
• Surf Safety
• Entering and exiting the surf safely
• Paddling your board
• Catching waves
• Basic stance & Pop up
• Surf Etiquette

Each lesson finishes with High 5’s and an informative post surf chat where you can find out all about how to progress from here.

Some important info for Beginners Lessons:

• When booking your lesson make sure you leave a number you can be contacted on
• Always show up ten minutes before your lesson start time
• Just bring your swim togs / towel & a bunch of enthusiasm!
• You don’t have to be a strong swimmer in order to join a class, just be water confident
• All lessons are taught and supervised by a qualified Beach Lifeguard & Surf Instructor

So you have mastered your basics and wanna progress to further out the back and catching more challenging waves. Time for an improvers lesson! Firstly you can have the use of our boards & suits or if you have just bought your own then come along and we’ll help you get Surfing.

With the massive explosion in Surfing in Ireland over the last few years many people have invested in a wide range of boards to suit their Surfing Style and goals. Surfing has it’s own set of rules and etiquette and its important that new comers to the line up are well versed in this before they hit the waves. This preserves their safety and provides for a better atmosphere on the water! Our improver’s classes have small ratios therefore giving you better contact time in the lesson. We even offer 1:2:1 lessons.

Basically these lessons are tailor made to each groups needs but can include such elements as :

The stronghold of our Surf School over the last few years has been our Summer Camps. The success of these has been built up over many summers. We pride ourselves on providing excellent staff that offer extra special care for all who surf with us.

All our summer camps have an emphasis primarily on safety but also on fair play, respect for the ocean & each other. Fun beach games & warm ups help “ice break” activity and allow the kidz / teenz to forge new friendships & confidence.

Such intense fun in the sea with the guidance of our Instructors & assistants will include the teaching of respect for the sea and stronger swim skills, therefore kidz develop a stronger bond with the sea and a healthy respect for the dangers of the sea.

Surfing can make a perfect outing for any school group or college society / club. Over the years we have forged great links with local schools & clubs who have surfed with us.

We offer complete packages for such groups and have affordable transport options to and from the beach. Our ISA recognition, qualified staff and full insurance can offer the re-assurance that those not so familiar with surfing may need.

PE classes, transition groups in particular can be re-invigorated with a series of Surf lessons. Our friendly, professional approach will allow students to enjoy the freedom of the ocean and to learn respect for the environment and each other whilst staying fit and healthy learning to surf.
